Obituary of Maria E. Wolcott

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Maria E. Wolcott of Livingston Manor passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. She was 81.

She was the daughter of the late Wilbur Edwards and Kathleen Tuttle, born on July 16, 1942, in Livingston Manor, NY.

Maria loved helping people, which led her to her career as a nurse. She worked for many years at Catskill Regional Medical Center where she tended to hundreds of patients. As a nurse, she completely understood the role of caregiver. That role did not stop at the hospital door. She was the 'on call' caregiver for her entire family. She will be fondly remembered for her natural ability to make others smile and her infectious laugh. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband Ronald Wolcott, her children; Colleen Freitas,  Rae Ellen Meachum, Jayne Smith (Dan), her grandchildren; Andrew Becker (Meaghan), Steven Defreitas (Abby), Katelyn Molusky (Pat), Brandon Smith (Meghan), Dylan Smith (Britney), and Zachary Freitas, her great grandchildren, Zoey & Noah Defreitas and Addison Smith, her brothers, Ed Edwards (Carole) and Dan Edwards  (Olianna), many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as two very special cousins and life-long best friends Bertie Johaneman and Carol Campbell. She was predeceased by an infant son, Steven Becker, a granddaughter, Sara Molusky, and son-in-law, Peter Meachum.

Funeral services were handled privately, and interment took place at Lew Beach Cemetery.
