Obituary of Ronald Hewlett

Ronald Hewlett, 94, of Liberty, formerly of Swan Lake, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. He will be sorely missed. Ronald was born in Hurleyville NY on March 17, 1923 to Walter and Nettie Bowers Hewlett.

Ronald was the owner and operator at Ronnie’s Garage in Swan Lake. He was a past fire commissioner at the Swan Lake Fire Department. He served his nation in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed hunting and target shooting and was a skilled gunsmith along with a prolific poet. You would often find him in his workshop yodeling away while he worked.

Ronald is survived by his son Ronald Hewlett Jr. and his companion Marilee of Liberty. His daughter Barbara Bedell and her husband Gordon of Swan Lake;his brother Clifford Hewlett and his wife Eileen; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Along with many other family and friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife Marion Frances. His brothers Harvey, Chet and Walter “Binky”. His sisters Grace and Lillian. And a daughter Linda.

A visitation will be held at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 275 South Main Street Liberty NY 12754, on Wednesday January 31 from 4 to 7pm. A service will be held the next day, February 1, at the funeral home starting at 11 am, Keith Herbert officiating. Burial will follow funeral service at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
