Elizabeth “Betty” Burgio, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center. She will be dearly missed. Betty was born on July 15, 1927 in Mayfield, PA to William and Hazel McAuley.

Betty was the widow of the late Charles A. “Charlie the Barber” Burgio, they were married for 57 years. She worked as a waitress at Singer's Restaurant in Liberty for many years. She was the past president of the White Sulphur Parent Teacher Association and a life member of Weight Watchers. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her daughter Dorothea and her husband Tom Garrihy of East Windsor, NJ. Her sons Charles and his wife Elizabeth of Liberty, Robert and his wife Kim of Liberty and William and his wife Denise of Liberty. Her sister Jean Tusko of Jermyn, PA and her brother Jackie and his wife Linda McAuley of Oswego, NY. Nine grandchildren: Meghan Garrihy Conway, Christopher Garrihy, Brendan Garrihy, Cheryl Burgio Gerow, Chad Burgio, Jaime Burgio D’Agata, Michael Burgio, Deanna Burgio and Timothy Burgio. Twelve great-grandchildren: William Conway, Patrick Conway, Hadley Garrihy, Greyson Garrihy, Brynn Garrihy, Dylan Garrihy, Camela Burgio, Luca Burgio, Dia D’Agata, Amelia D’Agata, Olivia Burgio and Logan Burgio. She is predeceased by her two brothers Robert and William McAuley. Along with her loving husband Charles of 57 years

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, from 12:30 to 2:30, at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 275 South Main Street Liberty NY 12754. A service will be held in Betty’s honor following the visitation at the funeral home. A burial at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery will take place after the service.
