Obituary of Frank P. Armstrong

Frank P. Armstrong of North Branch passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Castle Point VA Hospital. He was 75.

He was the son of the late Francis C. Armstrong and Florence Veydovec, born on March 20, 1948, in Jersey City, NJ.

He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1966-1969 receiving a Silver Star. He continued to serve his community as a Monticello Police Officer until he retired at the rank of Detective Sgt. During his time in the force, he helped numerous people get their lives back on track. Frank liked to stay busy, serving as a Judge in Fremont and a Sullivan County Legislator. He later worked at the Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency and the Action towards Independence. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion, VFW, and AmVets. When he wasn’t lending a helping hand to a Veteran in need he could be found tending to his small family farm. His love of animals could not be denied as he had cows, chickens, horses, and goats, just to name a few animals. He enjoyed being outside a true outdoorsman, whether he was gardening or camping. He liked to travel and dabble in carpentry while he was fixing up his house. He loved being social and out in the community, but he loved his family more than anything, and he will be missed deeply by everyone that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Patty Armstrong, his children Peter Armstrong, Katie (Joshua) Pelton-Stroud, his grandchildren Kade, Brynn, and Phineas, and many cousins and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty, NY at 2:00pm with full military honors. Pastor Joycalyn Jordan will officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations in Frank's name can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114 or a charity of your choice.
