George Earl Mattison, 70, of Liberty, passed away at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home on February 27, 2018. Born to Margaret Hanlon and Earl Mattison on June 23, 1947 in Liberty, New York.
He is survived by his cousin Chuck Conklin and wife of Huguenot, New York; several cousins in Pennsylvania and many friends who consider him a part of their family at SullivanArc.
George will be remembered for his outgoing personality and love of life. He was a social butterfly, full of energy and joy whose mere presence could light up a room and bring a smile to your face. George looked forward to every Holiday and took great pleasure in visiting “the money story” to purchase decorations for his room and home. He kept his spirits up through his failing health and his move to Roscoe with the help of many visiting friends which he truly cherished.
On behalf of George, the following excerpt from the poem “he is gone” is offered: “You can remember me and only that I am gone, or you can cherish my memory and let me live on.”
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11am on Monday, March 5th at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will follow. Fr. John Lynch will officiate. Burial will be held at St. Joanchim Cemetery, Beacon, NY.
