Our History

On September 7, 1997 Colonial Memorial Funeral Home opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  This facility located at 396 State Route 52 in Woodbourne was Anthony Perito's first and primary location. One can’t help but feel the historical significance of the original building built in the 1830's; this center hall colonial farmhouse celebrated its 180th anniversary in 2010. Built from stones found in the nearby Neversink River, this beautiful house contains 18 rooms and provides ample space for services including three chapels which can seat more than100 people, a show room and a large receiving area. This location is a professional environment that provides the comfort of a warm, traditional home feeling – ideal for large gatherings.

From1998-2004, Anthony operated Bury Pine Funeral Home in Ellenville. Then, in 2003, Mr. Perito acquired Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, located at 29 Pearl Street in Livingston Manor, NY, which has a very large main chapel that can seat more than 100 people.

In 2017, Ramsay’s Funeral Homes became part of the Colonial Family. Ramsay's Funeral Homes, Inc. was founded in 1896 by Sherman Ramsay in Kauneonga Lake, NY. He and his son, S. Spencer Ramsay, licensed funeral director, expanded the business by opening a funeral home in Liberty, NY, in 1922.  In 1926, S. Spencer Ramsay and his wife, Nina Ramsay, also a licensed funeral director, moved the business to its present location, a lovely Victorian Home built in 1861. In 1970, Thomas E. Warren purchased the business from the Ramsay's upon their retirement. In 1977, Mr. Warren added a funeral home in Monticello, NY.

In 2016, Mr. Warren passed away and his wife Janette and funeral director Lloyd Heller continued the business.  In 2017, when Anthony acquired the Ramsay's Funeral Homes, he changed the name to Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Homes, officially making the Ramsay enterprise part of the Colonial Family of Funeral Homes.

At all his facilities, Anthony and his staff offer personal and professional service to each of the families we assist with traditional, courteous, and comforting service that people require during what is often one of the most stressful time of their lives.
